Life as Mission.
Community Bridges uses a missional model similar to the “Business as Mission” (or BAM). This is an approach that treats for-profit business itself as a legitimate form of Christian vocation and mission, rather than merely a way to fund “real” ministry. In BAM thinking, business is expected to be profitable, ethical, and intentionally kingdom-oriented, creating jobs, serving communities, and bearing Christian witness through holistic transformation—spiritual, social, economic, and sometimes environmental as well. The movement grew out of older evangelical ideas such as tentmaking, lay vocation, and marketplace ministry (Read 1 & 2 Thessalonians in particular). A focus is that BAM is more sustainable than donor-funded models alone.
Many of the principles and tenets of Business as Mission (BAM) are reflected in the language we use at Community Bridges. The key distinction is our emphasis on Life as Mission. We believe this is the normative way every Christian should be equipped and empowered to live—not just a select few. Living missionally in every sphere of influence is foundational. This conviction is why we have ministries that are self-supporting through the services they provide. Life as Mission is more than a philosophy; it is part of our identity. It communicates not only what we do, but who we are. So, why “Life as mission”?

The Story {So Far}.
Like everything that is worth building, it takes time, energy and commitment. Community Bridges is no different.
Community Bridges was launched by Putnam City Baptist Church (PCBC) on January 24, 2020, as a beginning concept to use self-supporting ministries as a means of building bridges into our community. Our first effort was a small cafe using the commercial kitchen of PCBC which was scheduled to open in March of 2020, the very same week the US, and subsequently the world, shut down due to the pandemic. Needless to say, that was an inauspicious, and quickly suspended, beginning.
There were other fits and spurts of growth and setbacks as we worked to implement the idea that a modern church could use the vocations of its members to reach the communities in which they lived and beyond, even to the uttermost parts of the world. These efforts were substantially advanced in the fall of 2024 when Highland Hills Baptist Church chose to donate their building at 7900 Devore Drive in Oklahoma City for these purposes.
Today, in July of 2026, Community Bridges works to live life on mission and on purpose, serving God in all areas of life with the express purpose of joining Him in His mission of reconciliation. Our Ministries (which look like organizations and businesses) are growing and changing all of the time.

Move to Highland Hills (New CB)
With each of the ministries constantly growing and expanding services, there was a need for a dedicated space. A unique opportunity presented itself with the members of Highland Hills Baptist Church donating their building to our ongoing work. This partnership has propelled our ability to equip and empower new individuals and ministries to reach people.

With each of our Family & Fitness ministries continuing to grow, and the addition of Nourish Catering to our services, we continue to seek out and develop relationships with new people with fresh vision for ways to serve our communities.
